opera transcription in Italian, in 2 Acts
An independent production of Bartók Plus Opera Festival
Bartók Plus, in its programme Opera for Thousands Brings Don Giovanni, one of Mozart’s most important Operas, arranged in an exciting new style close to the world of contemporary music.
The transcription of the opera spiced with stylistic elements of rock music is presented in the open air at the Avas Observation Tower using this emblematic building of the town as part of the stage set. This out-of-the-line performance is directed by Vlad Troitsky, already known in Hungary for his unsettling productions. He will revive Mozart’s Don Juan-like yearning for life that fascinates us tremendously, even though we know, the protagonist is hurrying to self-destruction and will eventually fail, and he will never back off.
T
his far from classical musical transcription of Mozart’s opera, under the title RockGiovanni, was created by Apor Szüts, a young and talented composer, on commission of Bartók Plus Opera Festival.
