Studied violin at the Conservatory “Pietro Mascagni” in Livorno. He graduated in Arts, Music and Theatre at the Faculty of Philosophy and Philology of the University of Bologna. He received his Master's degree in Arts Management at the Catholic University of Milan. From 2001 to 2010 Giuseppe Acquaviva is appointed artistic administrator of Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago. Since 2011, he is the Artistic Director of Genoa’s Carlo Felice Theatre Foundation.
Born in Split, he graduated conducting in 1959 on the Music Academy in Zagreb and continued to learn with Milan Sachs, Hermann Scherchen
and Herbert von Karajan. For years he worked with great conductors such as Lovro pl. Matačić, Ferdinand Leitner, Otmar Suitner, Nikolaus
Harnoncourt and the composers of the 20th century classics, such as for example, Benjamin Britten, Carl Orff, Oliver Messiah, Luigi
Dallapiccola, Goffredo Petrassi, Dmitri Shostakovich, Luigi Nono.
