Sébastien Soulès, was born in Orléans (France). He studied both mathematics and music in his home town. Then he studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, and at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin with Prof. Harald Stamm. He also had the oppotunity to attend Masterclasses with Walter Berry, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Brigitte Fassbaender and Jose van Dam.
In 2002 he made his debut as Graf Eberbach in Lortzing''s "Wildschütz" in Hof (Germany) and as Escamillo in "Carmen" at the Tiroler Landestheater, Innsbruck. He was member of the company from 2003 to 2010. There he sang roles such as Belcore ("Elisir d''Amore"), Sharpless ("Butterfly"), Figaro, Jochanaan ("Salome"), Don Giovanni, Kaspar („Der Freischütz"),Don Alfonso ("Così fan tutte"), Golaud ("Pelléas et Mélisande"), Musiklehrer ("Ariadne auf Naxos"), Scarpia ("Tosca"), Alberich ("Das Rheingold") and Wozzeck.
In 2007 und 2008 he sang Angelotti at the Bregenz Festival. In the last James Bond movie "Quantum of Solace" he sang and played the role of Scarpia. Highlights of 2009/10 were the 4 vilains in "Les Contes d''Hoffmann" at the Theatre of Linz (Austria) and Mozart''s Don Giovanni at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb. Since then, Sébastien Soulès has had big success as Don Giovanni and Marcello ("La Bohème") at the opera house of Halle, and as Albert in Massenet''s "Werther" at the theatre of Koblenz. At the international May Festival Wiesbaden (State Opera of Wiesbaden), he sang the role of Humbert Humbert in Shchedrin''s opera "Lolita" under the baton of Marc Piollet, directed by Konstanze Lauterbach. In Summer 2011, he performed the role of Figaro ("Le Nozze di Figaro") at the open air festival of Klosterneuburg (Austria).
Since 2011 Sébastien Soules has mostly performed in Vienna, Austria. He performed the title role in Cerhha''s "Baal" at the Neue Oper Wien, and he also played at Vienna''sVolksoper, in "Carmen", "Gianni Schicchi", "Tosca". He was the first French singer ever to perform the title role of Mozart''s Figaro in Vienna, in a new production of Vienna''s Volksoper, directed by Marco Arturo Marelli. He entered the Volksoper company for the 2012-2013 season.
In 2013 he performed the title role in Wagner''s "Flying Dutchman" for the first time in Hildesheim, Germany, also in an original work at the wellknown Wiener Festwochen festival, and at the Graz Styrian festival, in Offenbach''s "Barbe-Bleue", conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt. He had the role of Popolani (with Elizabeth Kulman, a DVD will be available in autumn 2013).
Soules 2013–2014 season has opened in Linz, with the "Schatzgräber" resurrection, an unremembered masterpiece composed by Schrecker. Then he will sing again some of the roles he has already performed at the Volksoper. He was also heard in Brahms'' Requiem and Beethoven''s 9 in Paris, Italy (Mahler''s Lieder).
He sang the role of Escamillo twice in France : in 2012 in Paris, Marseille, Lille, Strasbourg, Bordeaux, Nantes, Toulouse, in a great Carmen Tour and again at the Tours opera house in 2014.
He will soon perform in Wiesbaden, Germany (Henze), In Warsaw in an original work based on Moby Dick, in Graz (Kaspar), in Malta (Escamillo), and he will make his debut in a musical, performing Jacques Brel''s version of l''homme de la Manche, in Biel (Swiss).
