Graduated from the musical college of Moscow conservatory (choir conducting class), Russian Academy of Theatrical Arts (stage directing of musical theatre). His diploma performance was "Il matrimonio segreto" by D. Cimarosa in Sverdlovsk theatre of opera and ballet (1987).
He worked as a stage director and actor in Sverdlovsk theatre of opera and ballet, Mosconcert, Smolensk drama theatre, Moscow musical theatre "Forum" under conductor Mikhail Yurovsky, where in 1989 he collaborated with Dmitry Bertman on "Quintius Fabius" by D. Bortniansky.
In 1991 he assisted Boris Milgram in the world's premiere of S. Slonimsky opera "Master and Margarita". In 1994 - 1996 he worked for Moscow theatre "Novaya Opera", where he was an assistant of Vladimir Vasiliev at the production of "Oh Mozart, Mozart" by music on W. A. Mozart and N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov.
He conducted the course of actor's technique in Moscow conservatory. In 2001 he was on probation in Koln's High School of Music (Germany) at musical theatre faculty.
His first performance in Helikon-Opera, "Bauernkantate" by J. S. Bach, was staged in 2000. He also staged "Pyramus and Thisbe" by J. F. Lampe (2003), "Rita, or to Love as Russians" by G. Donizetti (2006).
Alexander Borodovsky is engaged as an actor in such performances as “Pyramus and Thisbe" by J. F. Lampe and “Vec Makropoulos” by L. Janáček.
