Born: 1969 – Budapest. The Hungarian counter-tenor, Zoltán Gavodi, began his studies as a student of Ilona Adorján in 1989, and continued with Éva Lax and Tünde Szabóki.
Zoltán Gavodi appears especially as a counter-tenor soloist, but he has already collaborated several times in operas, concerts, musicals and recordings. His repertoire includes almost every era and style: from medieval and early Renaissance complex vocal polyphony, to the latest contemporary music.
Previous roles include: - Ravel: The Child and the Spells intenor roles (Teapot, Little Man, Tree Frog) with Zoltán Kocsis and the National Philharmonic in 2012 at Budapest Palace of Arts and the University hall of Veszprém; J.S. Bach: four cantata alto solos in concert of the Purcell Choir and Orfeo Orchestra under the baton of György Vashegyi at Budapest headquarters of the Ceremonial Hall of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2011; Gergely Vajda: German-language opera by Leo Naphta written in the wake of Thomas Mann's novel The Magic Mountain, in July 2010 at the XX. International Davos Festival; Péter Eötvös: Radames, opera title role (and Aida) organized within the framework of the International Seminar Bartók opera premiere, directed by András Almási-Tóth in Szombathely in 2009, then in 2010 in Budapest; Arnold Schoenberg: Moses and Aaron, opera tenor voice, conducted by Zoltán Kocsis of the National Philharmonic Orchestra in Bartók + Vienna spirit of ongoing Miskolc International Opera Festival in 2009 and the Palace of Arts in Budapest in 2010; Leonard Bernstein: Chichester Psalms, at the Mátyás Church, conducted by Gábor Baross with the ELTE Mixed Choir and Orchestra during the Budapest Spring Festival in March 2007; J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor BWV 232, mezzo-soprano solo in the Mátyás Church, the National Choir and the National Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Mátyás Antal in 2004; Genet: Les nègres drama set to music by Hungarian László Sáry, counter-tenor presentation featured the int the Bárka Theatre, conducted by Zoltán Balázs in the autumn of 2004.
For years, Zoltán Gavodi has been a constant contributor to the vocal ensembles A:N:S Chorus, National Choir, Purcell Choir (Director: György Vashegyi), Saint Ephraim Male Choir and Voces Aequales and CantuS CorvinuS (Director: Géza Klembala).
