Dobi-Kiss VeronikaVeronika Dobi-Kiss is a Hungarian mezzo-soprano, who finished her studies as a opera singer in 2003. She is a member of the Hungarian State Opera House in Budapest.
Her repertory includes opera roles such as: the La Badessa and the Princess in Puccini's : Sister Angelica; Mercedes in Bizet's Carmen; the leading role in Kodaly's: Háry; Mamma Lucia in Mascagni's: Cavalleria rusticana; Giovanna in Verdi's: Rigoletto; Dorothea in Verdi's: Stiffelio; Emília in Verdi's: Otello; Larina in Tchaikovsky's: Onegin; Brigitta in Korngold's: Die tote Stadt; Landlady in Prokofjev's: The Fiery Angel; Jeanna mother in Poulenc’s The Carmelites; Luca’s mother in Judit Varga’s Love etc.
She worked in Hungarian State Opera, among others, with world-wide known tenor José Cura and conductors Pinchas Steinberg and C. Badea.
Alongside operas Mrs.Veronika Dobi-Kiss extensively perfoms church music both in Hungary, in Austria, in Germany and in Italy. She released church music recording with the Symphonic Orchestra of Győr in 2005 and 2007. She performed in the WDR4 recording in Salzkotten and in 2006 in the ORF-WDR4 joint broadcasting program. She also recorded arias with the MÁV Symphonic Orchestra, conducted by Teddy Abrams in 2011.
In 2013. she performed as a soloist in UNESCO center in Paris with a world wide famous pianist Tamás Vásáry. Their artistic cooperation continud in Berlin and Budapest several times.
In the same time Mrs. Dobi-Kiss is a voice instructor and a teacher of opera singing in Budapest. Her students won several awards and prizes( e.g.competition organized and conducted by Placido Domingo in 2009) and some of her students went on to study at such prestigious schools as the University of Vienna, Graz, Budapest, Köln, Bremen and Juilliard in New York.
